Free, Plus or Premium: how the AICHIKI plans work now

Our post about choosing a plan went up almost a year ago, and a lot has changed since then. The plans now run on different AI models, every plan has a daily allowance, and CHI arrived with the Halloween update. This post explains how the three plans work today.

What every plan has

Some things are the same no matter which plan you are on:

• Unlimited messages and regenerations. There is no message cap on any plan.
• Unlimited character creation, public or private.
• Unlimited picture generation, saved straight into your private gallery (My Images).
• Chat with Aichiki, the assistant, at her Desk and in her Room. She remembers you across chats.
• Chat settings for response length, style, emojis, creativity and surprise factor.
• Download any chat as a PDF.
• Multi-character chat: invite more characters into a conversation.
• Profile themes and chat themes. Most of them are free for everyone.

Every core feature stays available on every plan. The differences are in the AI models, memory, themes and CHI.

Free

Free runs on our lighter AI models. They can roleplay well and stay in character, but they are smaller, so they are less detailed and they only remember part of a conversation. If something matters to the story, it is safer to have it in the character's bio than to mention it once in chat.

Free gets most profile themes and chat themes. The ones marked with a lock are subscription themes. You can still unlock any of them for good with CHI, and once unlocked it stays yours even if you never subscribe.

Free is meant to be a real version of AICHIKI, not a demo. You can chat as much as you want and build as many characters as you want before deciding whether to upgrade.

Plus

Plus has everything in Free and adds:

• Better AI models. Plus runs on the Free model together with some paid models, so conversations are a step up from Free: more detail, more consistency.
• Unlimited memory. Characters remember everything within a chat session.
• Enhanced Memory. Characters come with the Past Events their creators wrote, and those recollections get woven into the conversation naturally.
• All subscription themes unlocked, chat and profile, for as long as the plan is active.

Plus does not come with CHI. If you want CHI on Plus, you earn it through challenges or claim it from gift bundles like the one at the Halloween update.

Premium

Premium has everything in Plus and adds:

• Our strongest AI models. This is where the best roleplay on AICHIKI happens: the deepest, most consistent and most nuanced characters we can offer. If you are serious about long stories and want characters that stay sharp over hundreds of messages, this is the plan for it.
• 150 CHI every month, added right after each payment comes in.
• A tree planted every month. Every active Premium subscription plants one tree through our reforestation partner, 1ClickImpact. You get a confirmation email from them directly, so you can see it happened.

Trying a plan first

If you have never subscribed before, your first Plus or Premium subscription starts with a 3-day free trial, whichever way you subscribe: Google Play, the App Store or Stripe on the web. You can cancel during the trial and pay nothing.

The daily allowance

Every plan comes with a daily allowance of chat quality. Each plan starts the day on its own quality level: Premium on the Premium models, Plus on the Plus models, Free on the Free models. When you use up the allowance for your current level, your chats step down to the next level, and if you use up that one too, they step down again. Each level has its own allowance, so a Premium user can go through Premium, Plus and Free quality in one day, and a Free user steps down to a lighter level. Nothing is cut off. You keep chatting with unlimited messages, and everything resets at midnight, your local time.

You can see where you stand in the Chat Quality dashboard: open the ⋯ menu in any chat and tap Quality. It shows your current level, how far you are from the ceiling and when it resets.

If you do not want to wait for midnight, you can reset your allowance early with CHI, once a day.

What CHI is

CHI is the in-app currency that came with the Halloween update, and the name is not an accident. CHI has been sitting in the middle of AICHIKI since the beginning. In Chinese it is chi, in Japanese it is ki, and in both it means the same thing: life energy, the force that moves through everything living. That is why the symbol is the yin-yang, and why CHI felt like the right name for the energy you spend inside the app. If you want the full story of how the name AICHIKI came together, we wrote it up here: Where the name AICHIKI comes from.

You can spend CHI on:

• Subscription themes. Any locked chat or profile theme can be unlocked for good with CHI, on any plan. Two themes, Ancient China and Southern Gothic, are unlocked only with CHI on every plan, including Plus and Premium.
• A day pass.
• A memory boost.
• An early reset of your daily allowance.

Wherever something can be bought with CHI, you will see a button with the CHI symbol next to it. There is no separate shop.

Right now there are two ways to get CHI: a Premium subscription, which gives 150 CHI a month, and challenges and gift bundles, which are open to every plan. Buying CHI with real money is not available yet. It will come later.

Which plan is right for you

Choose Free if you want to explore AICHIKI at your own pace. Unlimited messages and unlimited characters mean you get a real sense of the platform before paying anything.

Choose Plus if you are enjoying AICHIKI and want a cost-effective upgrade. Smarter models than Free, unlimited memory, Enhanced Memory and every theme unlocked, at a low price.

Choose Premium if you want the best AICHIKI can do. The strongest models, 150 CHI every month, and a tree planted for each month you stay subscribed.

Supporting the project

AICHIKI has no in-app ads and we intend to keep it that way. Subscriptions are what pay for the models, the servers and the development. If you enjoy the app and want to help it grow, upgrading is the most direct way to do that.
