The people behind the AICHIKI community
AICHIKI is built by two people, but the community around it is kept running by a small group of volunteers who moderate the Discord and the subreddit, test updates before they go out, and generally make the place what it is. Most of you have talked to at least one of them. This post is to put names to the roles, in their own words where I could.
Everyone here was asked first and has seen their part before it was published.
How the team came together
Almost nobody on this list started out as a moderator. All of them joined as regular users, became beta testers, and were later asked, or asked us, to help moderate. The ones who were moderators first asked to join the beta testing afterwards. So today the whole mod team tests as well, and two of our testers have been dedicated testers from the beginning.
One more person belongs here before the list. When Rudi and I started the Discord server we had no idea how to set one up, and our daughter, Osamu on the server, did it for us. She still helps with creative ideas for the app. The way AICHIKI looks for Halloween right now is one of hers.
The moderators
Judah has been with AICHIKI since late November 2025. They found us through a Reddit thread where Rudi had left a comment and a referral code. On Discord, Judah handles most of the disciplinary side and rule enforcement, and on Reddit they answer questions and concerns about the app. In their own words, the part they enjoy most is being there to help with anything that needs feedback or a hand. They are usually among the first to respond when something goes wrong. Outside AICHIKI, Judah writes and reads in their own time and creates characters of their own; favourite genres are fantasy, romance and the occasional sci-fi.
CatSneky joined in November 2025. She found AICHIKI in a slightly unusual way: she asked Gemini to find her a roleplay app with permanent memory and generous response length, and AICHIKI came up. She started as a beta tester, applied when we were looking for moderators, and we thought she fit. She is still fairly new in the role and does a lot of testing alongside it. What she enjoys most about the community is how user-driven it is, that people can request features and themes and see them happen, and the welcoming atmosphere in general. She describes herself as a huge anime nerd. If she is not at work or watching anime, she is on AICHIKI. She also loves learning and sharing facts about animals. Her favourite things, in her own order: Katsuki Bakugo, anime, animals, autumn, plants and herbs, rock music, and the colour red.
Robin (Callysaur on Discord) came to AICHIKI about a year ago because a friend, Teri, recommended it. She moderates the Discord. What she likes most about the community is its friendliness and inclusivity: bouncing ideas off each other, and offering encouragement when someone needs it. She also has a sharp eye for things that don't look right, and anything suspicious she comes across in the app ends up in our inbox. Robin loves video games and writing stories centred on fantasy, contemporary settings and slow-burn romance. Ask her about her book collection and she will talk about Tolkien for a long time, though she warns she can be very critical when reviewing a story seriously.
JR (Liminal on Discord) found AICHIKI in January through one of my Reddit posts explaining the app, downloaded it, and has been here about ten months. He is very fast at dealing with spam. What he likes about AICHIKI is how realistic the characters are in conversation, the immersion and quality-of-life features, and the community itself. He has been into AI roleplay for around two years. He plays games, watches anime, reads manga and manhwa, and prefers quirky scenarios, fantasy and anime-themed roleplay. Boa Hancock, he says, is waifu for life.
Andrew (Darkbane on Discord, Elitemonkie on Reddit) has been with the app for about six months. He found AICHIKI on Reddit while looking at AI chat apps and stayed for the writing and depth of the characters. He moderates both the Discord and the subreddit. On Discord that mostly means helping people with app issues, since the community is well behaved. On Reddit it means keeping posts within the rules, engaging with posts to give them a boost, and helping users who aren't on Discord. He says the two communities feel very different: Reddit is mostly question and answer, while Discord is more like a small family where people share stories and hang out. His day job is animal protection officer, so the app is a good way to switch off. He usually goes for magic or fantasy roleplay and has been getting into the world roleplays lately. He is also, in his words, obsessed with Baldur's Gate 3.
The beta testers
Beta testers get new updates before release and tell us what doesn't work. Some asked to join and we said yes; others we invited.
Issack_Wolf has been testing for a year. Their favourite bugs are the conversation-coherence ones, which have made them laugh more than once. They love wolves, snacks and anime, especially Overlord and Code Geass. Issack also just graduated, and I am very proud of them.
Rei (Loki on Discord) joined in the spring and became a beta tester the same day. They enjoy the hunt: deliberately poking at new features to pull bugs out into the open, as they put it, like a little investigator. In practice that means we hear from them often, with questions and reports whenever something isn't working as it should. Rei loves Norse mythology and Marvel (the main six Avengers and Loki, of course), Doctor Who, and Minecraft, where they build in survival and tries something new in every world. They has even roleplayed a Minecraft scenario on AICHIKI. Their favourite genres are action and slice of life, and they like making characters on the app.
Two of our VIPs test as well, and they get their own introduction below.
VIP, also known as the Inner Circle
On Discord you will see a VIP tag on a few names, and the member list groups them under Inner Circle. The tag isn't a job. It marks the people Rudi and I met while being active on Discord and who became our friends along the way.
TeriTheN7 has been part of AICHIKI and the Discord from the start, and several people in the community, including one of our moderators, are here because she recommended it. She has been beta testing for over a year because, as she puts it, it helps make the app better for everyone else. She also creates characters, and some of them are personal favourites of mine: Ian Carter, King Torin the barbarian king, Ethan Chen, Declan Moon, and the Tyrant Kingdom roleplay. They are deep, and easy to fall for. Outside AICHIKI she plays video games, especially RPGs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, and drinks coffee.
Cherry Leigh has been beta testing for around a year, and she tests character creation in particular: what the suggested fixes are and what the tool picks up on. She has put it through its paces more than anyone, with over 2,700 characters created, the most of any user on the app. She plays video games, creates characters, and likes fantasy (Tolkien is a favourite writer) and anime and manga, with Naruto and One Piece at the top and Kakashi Hatake and Dracule Mihawk as favourite characters. She also doodles occasionally.
Thank you
They do this because they like the app and the community, and the community is better for it. If you see them around, say hi.
You can find the Discord server from inside the app, and the subreddit is at r/AICHIKI.
